HELLO AND WELCOME TO HYPNOTHERAPY BY FENNSTAR

My name is Phillip Fennell, and I am a qualified psychotherapist who specialises in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.

 

Back in 2021, I myself struggled with mental health. It all started when I was talking with one of my lads, and he told me that he had a voice in his head, telling him to harm himself. I was really shocked and worried, and I felt something inside myself, suddenly drop, like a sinking feeling.

After I talked to him about seeing his GP, I came home. I didn’t feel myself; I could tell that something wasn’t right. A month later, work got really busy, and I found that I didn’t have any spare time to relax and enjoy anything. I felt like I was in a bit of a rut. 

I started working longer and longer hours to try and cope with the extra workload and eventually I decided to go to see my GP, to see if he could help me with my low mood. This was after lockdown, and I suppose everyone was struggling with their mental health.

 

My GP put me on antidepressants, and I thought that these tablets would cure my problem, but I was wrong. Things started to get worse, and I became very short tempered, with everyone. My sleep patterns were all over the place and I just didn’t feel myself. Eventually I snapped one day, and my face started to tingle like pins and needles, I wasn’t sure what was wrong with me, so I contacted my GP again. To cut a long story short, over the next 10 months, my GP messed about with different antidepressants, and I ended up just feeling numb, like a zombie. I still remember what my GP had said to me, when I asked if I would ever be cured, he had said that “the only way to get rid of stress/anxiety/depression is to get rid of the cause”. 

I was one of the lucky ones, In April 2022, I decided to leave my job of thirty-three and a half years, to start working on myself, and to try and get off the medication. At first, I started meditating every day, I then started doing the Wim Hoff breathing techniques and started going to the gym 3 times a week. I started to make small changes in my life, like going for walks in the park, visiting friends and family and I stopped people pleasing. I then started to reduce my medication, as I started to feel more in control of my life.

After a while, I felt that I needed to try and help others, who are struggling like I did. So, I looked into hypnotherapy. I met up with a family friend who is also a practicing Hypnotherapist and she advised me to get trained up first, as 80% of Hypnotherapists aren’t professionally trained by an accredited organisation. 

I did a lot of research into which type of hypnotherapy to train in, as there are many different types to choose from. I found out that solution focused hypnotherapy is the safest one out there, and it is backed up by science. I then joined the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training School, where I have learnt how to help people with all types of problems. Problems like, anger, anxiety, depression, stress, phobias, PTSD, Menopause both peri and post, low mood, negative thinking, OCD, IBS, self-confidence, addictions (like alcohol, drugs, and smoking) and sleeping problems.

Please note: that I live and work in the Castle Bromwich area of Birmingham UK. I work from a second-floor apartment with no lift, only stairs. I can easily send you a “Microsoft Teams” meeting invite and you will probably feel more relaxed in the comfort of your own home.
